Egypt Poverty
During Ancient Egypt, the only people who earned a lot of
money at the time were Kings, and Priest. Many families at least had to have 3
people work at a job in order to have enough money to buy food. The period at the end of the Old Kingdom was
known as the First Intermediate period was considered to be a low point In
Egyptian History when control broke down leaving the Civil war. The war caused
famine and Poverty. Many people think that most tomb biographies reflect
poverty, and what they did with it.
People who had no money and such couldn't get a proper
burial, and all the people who did get a proper burial (Such as Pharaohs and
Priests) got a lot of income from their jobs. Usually people who get buried in
a tomb, are pharaohs. But if you have enough money, you can do it too, but that
is very rare, because most of the people who lived in Ancient Egypt were poor.
Many people who didn't have enough money couldn't have a say if they were going
to heaven or to hell. This made people not care if they did wrong actions, and
it made poverty stay the same.
How does what you learned compare to what is going on now
in the world. How is it the same, how is it different?
A: I say it is little different, with people getting more
jobs and there is less poverty. But we still have a lot of poverty.
What surprised you, what did not?
A: Mostly that Egyptians couldn't take care of their
people the right way. And I sort of knew that they were in a poverty crisis.
How does what you learned potentially make us look at
things different now? How can it help combat the injustice today?
A: It shows that the world can change after a while, and
It shows how much we can change, and we are already combating Justice for no
Poverty.
Why is it interesting to know?
A: This is interesting to know if you are interested in
poverty, and you are trying to get rid of poverty.
